M16, ammo found in May Pen Cemetery.

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police are reporting that an M16 rifle and magazine cartridges were discovered Friday at the May Pen Cemetery in Kingston under the newly launched Get the Guns campaign.
The discoveries were made between 5:00 am and 11:40 am in the May Pen Cemetery during a joint military operation supported by personnel from Areas Four and Five Divisions, Mobile Reserve, Caribbean Search Centre and the Canine Division.
No arrests were made in relation to the illegal weapon and ammunition but the police reported that they arrested five people in the operation that was also geared at apprehending wanted men.
The Police High Command has lauded the area officer and the team for a job well done, as initiatives like these will get rid of illegal guns off the street in a timely and efficient manner.
“The Police High Command is appealing to members of the public to assist the police by telling them what they know by calling Crime Stop at 311 or 811 and report illegal weapons, wanted persons or suspicious individuals in their communities and also by using the Stay Alert App in the Google play store,” the police said in a media release this afternoon.
