Vybz Kartel has struck gold in the US With Beyonce ! MUST READ!!





Dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel has struck gold in the US, this as Beyoncé’s single ‘Run The World’ (Girls), which features his writing among five other songwriters’, has sold more than 500,000 copies in that country.

The song was produced by Major Lazer on their popular ‘Pon Di Floor’ rhythm, which peaked in 2011. Run the World (Girls) has also performed well in other markets and has been certified two-time platinum in Australia; platinum in Canada; gold in Belgium and New Zealand; and silver in the United Kingdom.

Other notable songwriters credited on the single include Major Lazer producer Diplo, R&B singer The Dream, Afrojack and Pat Thrall.

Run the World (Girls) also peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100.


Where songwriting is concerned, Vybz Kartel is not the only one benefiting from lyrical prowess. Dancehall producer DJ Delano was also awarded for his songwriting skills recently by the American Society of Composers, Authors And Publishers (ASCAP). He was credited as a writer on the single 2 On, performed by popular US singer Tinashe.

2 On peaked at No. 24 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and was certified platinum by the RIAA.

Vybz Kartel has penned lyrics for several recording artistes under his camp and even boasted during the climax of the Gully vs Gaza lyrical warfare that he penned lyrics for his then-rival Mavado.

“How yu fi give mi hype when yu beg mi fi par; a mi write five song give yu tun yu inna star,” Vybz Kartel toasted in the lyrics of his song Mofraudo released on the Drumline rhythm.
