Young Thug and Lil Wayne have an
interesting relationship.
Thugger has said countless times that Weezy is his idol. His recent project, Barter 6, is a play on Tha Carter series. To him, it was paying homage to his favorite rapper, but many fans took it as diss because Thug planned on continuing the legacy without Wayne’s approval since Tha Carter V was pushed back. Wayne would take shots at him during his club tour promoting Sorry 4 The Wait 2, while Thug responded to a few, but respectfully kept his distance.

It didn’t help their friendship at all that Thug was named in an indictment that said he conspired with Birdman to kill Wayne. Allegedly, he shot his tour bus back in April.
Thug has addressed his situation with Weezy in the press already, but his latest thoughts on the matter does put everything in perspective. See, Thug never meant any disrespect by naming his project Barter 6 in the first place. He tells The New York Times:
“I’m not just being lame or trying to do something smooth. I told the whole world you my idol, and whenever you stop I’m gonna keep going.”
“Both of us grew up the same thing, the same gang man — Y.M.C.M.B.,” he continued, referring to the empire Baby built. “Why should you ever in your life even feel like we against each other?
