Earlier this month, Drake posted on Instagram about his desire for the success of "Hotline Bling." He said that "no accolades really matter to me other than the fact that I have never had a billboard number one."
In Billboard's weekly sales report, the publication says Drake's deal with Apple Music might have prevented the song from reaching the top position thus far. The video for "Hotline Bling" was released last week exclusively on the streaming service.
Billboard says Apple Music "does not currently report its video streams to Nielsen Music," which means the video's views did not count towards the song's total sales count. In the streaming songs chart, the track fell from the #2 position to #5.
